Creative Relationalities - The terrain of making-with-kin

The exhibition emerged from four years of practice-led PhD research of making with materials, communities, local ecologies, kin, and stories that surfaced slowly through thinking, reading, writing and reflecting. Artworks and ecological creative programs were attended by humans and more-than-humans during February & March 2026 at Clifton School of Arts, on the land of the Wodi Wodi people of the Dharawal language.

The focus of the research was

 care for community,

care for Country

care for self.

“Weaving, felting, walking, listening, tending, and sitting quietly with place. Over time, these gestures formed a practice of relational art-making, where the work became more about relationships and how I made, than what was made.” Field notes

felt collapsing onto gallery floor

Conversations with Trees 2023 was installed in Wollongong Botanic Garden for two months. The placed-based felt installation interacted with humans and more-than-humans changing in form and texture. The felt was re-installed on the gallery floor, interacting with place and reforming itself throughout the exhibition.
