The sculpture series Holding Constellations 1- 4 (2021) offers restoration in the metaphorical processes of its materiality. Assembled in a frugal manner from local materials, the binding of unshakeable stone and wood with felted wool rovings begins a process of recovery. The tactile comforting nature of wool serves as a tender force which is strengthened by its proximity to the weight of stone and wood. At the same time the hardness of the objects is subject to actions that shape and soften. The slow process of wrapping and holding constellations stalls the disintegration of self and embraces the artist and viewer through the intractable difficulties of feeling.
